Translation Practice Report On The E-C Translation Of SS&C Technologies Holdings Incorporated 2021 Annual Report

As the international trade and business activities get increasingly frequent,the importance of business English has become more prominent.A company’s annual report can reflect the work of the company’s board of directors and executive management,the company’s financial situation,dividends and the value of the company’s stock in the market.As a kind of informative text,the company’s annual report plays a great role in the development of the company,so the annual report translation has also become one of the key points in the field of economic translation.The report uses the first part of “SS&C Technologies Holdings Incorporated 2021 Annual Report” as the source material for Chinese translation,and it is divided into four chapters.Chapter one is an introduction to the translation practice project and it analyzes the textual characteristics of the annual report.Chapter two introduces the author’s translation process,which is divided into three parts: pre-translation preparation,translation and post-translation review.Chapter three is case discussions,mainly analyzing from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.For instance,in response to multiple specialized terms and proper nouns,the author adopts different translation methods such as inquiry method and transliteration.And as for the long and complex sentences that occur frequently,the author adopts such methods as synchronizing,inversion,cutting,embedding and recasting.In order to achieve textual coherence,appropriate cohesive devices are adopted in translation.Chapter 4 summarizes this translation practice.Through this translation project,the author has better grasped the application of translation techniques.And it will be an honor if someone can learn the translation strategies for the translation of fintech company’s annual report from this report.
