Creativity is the ability to complete innovative,appropriate and valuable activities by individual personality characteristics,motivation,knowledge and intelligence.The cultivation of creativity is the fundamental purpose of China ’s comprehensive development education.The junior middle school stage is the key period for the development of students ’ cognitive ability and innovative personality.Cultivating junior middle school students ’ creativity is an important goal and task of school education.Studies have shown that school environment plays an important role in the cultivation of junior high school students ’ creativity,and the satisfaction of basic psychological needs depends on the support of school environment including teachers and peers,and plays an intermediary role between environment and individual behavior.This study explores the influence of teacher autonomy support on junior high school students ’ creativity,and the role of basic psychological needs in it.The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics and influence mechanism of junior high school students ’ creativity development,and to provide theoretical guidance for schools to create a good innovation atmosphere and enhance junior high school students ’ innovation motivation.Expressive painting counseling is a psychological counseling technique that uses painting as a way of expression to express inner attitudes and ideas.Expressive painting plays a significant role in enhancing psychological support and self-disclosure.This study applies it to the group counseling of junior high school students ’ creativity,aiming to explore the role of expressive painting counseling in stimulating and enhancing the creativity of junior high school students,and provide a new perspective and reference for the cultivation of junior high school students ’creativity.This study is divided into two parts.Study 1 uses the ’ Creativity Self-Report Scale ’,’ Autonomous Support Scale ’,and ’ Basic Psychological Needs Scale ’ to select a total of 1972 students from four junior high schools in Anhui Province and Guangdong Province.A questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the relationship between junior high school students ’ creativity and teacher autonomy support and the mediating role of junior high school students ’ basic psychological needs;in the second study,a total of 61 junior high school students from two classes with relatively low total score of creativity in grade 7 of a junior high school in Hefei were selected as the research objects.The two classes with low scores were divided into experimental group and control group.32 students in the experimental group received 8 weeks of expressive painting group counseling.29 students in the control group did not carry out intervention activities.Through the pre-test and post-test and data analysis of the two groups,the effect of intervention activities was evaluated.The results show that :(1)Junior high school students ’ creativity,teacher autonomy support and basic psychological needs are significantly different in gender and grade.(2)There is a positive correlation between junior high school students ’creativity,teacher autonomy support and basic psychological needs.Teacher autonomy support has a significant positive predictive effect on junior high school students ’creativity.(3)Basic psychological needs play a partial mediating role between teacher autonomy support and creativity.(4)After the experimental group was guided by the expressive painting group,there was a significant difference in creativity and basic psychological needs before and after the test.The basic psychological needs satisfaction and creativity level of junior high school students were significantly improved,while the creativity and basic psychological needs of the control group were not significantly different before and after the test.Expressive painting counseling is one of the effective ways to improve the creativity of junior high school students.
