Performance Research Of Pipa Concerto "Loulan Girl

The Lute Concerto "The Loulan Girl" is another masterpiece by Mr Liu Xijin,one of the most influential contemporary composers in China.As a technical and artistic masterpiece,"The Loulan Girl" has been performed by lute players on major stages at home and abroad,and was selected as the designated piece for the"Dunhuang Cup" Lute Competition(final)in 2020.However,as the piece is relatively new,theoretical research on it is still weak.In this paper,we analyse the performance of this piece from three perspectives:musical form,performance technique and aesthetic style,and combine this with previous research to make three points.The first is that the piece is not a linear structure as suggested by past researchers,but a multi-part structure of choruses.Secondly,the work requires a high degree of technical skill,especially in the more popular Yang Jing version,which has a number of special technical treatments.Thirdly,the style of performance is both Western and feminine.
