This report is based on the E-C translation of an excerpt from My Life in Full,an autobiography written by the first female CEO of Pepsi Indra Nooyi, the first female who is at the helm of a Fortune 500 company. The book gives a detailed account of the author’s growth and life experiences in India and the United States. She expresses her insights on the social problem of the conflict between career and family encountered by women. Her rebellious spirit and sense of gender-equality are also well reflected in this book.Feminist translation theory emphasizes improving the status of translators and women.Through criticism and self-reflection,modern feminist translation introduces the concept of gender pluralism,de-emphasizes the dichotomy between men and women, challenges hegemony, and devotes itself to breaking the unequal conventions. The development of feminist translation in China still lags behind western feminist translation theory. There is still much room for development in both theory and practice. This report attempts to explore more possibilities of feminist translation theory in Chinese local context through translation practice.Under the guidance of feminist translation theory, this report illustrates the application of feminist translation theory in biographical texts through case study. The application of three major strategies of feminist translation theory proposed by Louis von Flotow: footnoting, supplementing and hijacking can maximize the manifestation of feminist thoughts, while using a milder attitude to show the original text’s call for gender equality in the Chinese context. This report also provides a reference for the translation practice of feminist translation theory on biographical texts.
