Over the past few years, the museum industry in China has developed rapidly. As one of the most important platforms for promoting the country’s culture, museums present the long-standing material and spiritual civilization of people. As China’s national power grows and its international influence increases, the importance of exporting local culture to the world is increasing day by day.In this context, the English translation of Chinese museum texts plays a particularly important role in the introduction and transmission of Chinese culture. This paper takes the Anhui Art Museum as the object of study, and selects several texts in the exhibition halls as translation objects.Taking Louise Ravelli’s framework of systemic functional linguistics as the theoretical basis and combining it with the characteristics of translated texts, this paper points out two functions of museum texts-informative function and interactive function – analyzes translation examples and concludes that,in translation practice, effective translation methods and techniques are needed to ensure the successful realization of these two functions. It is concluded that translation methods and techniques such as paraphrasing, annotating, and deduction can accurately convey the content, while adding connectives and reorganizing sentence structure can reveal logical relationships, thus realizing the informative function. The change of personification can bring visitors closer to the museum, and the interaction between museum texts and the visitors exists in various aspects, such as guiding the movement line and indicating the main characters, thus realizing the interactive function.
