| With the development of cultural exchanges between China and western countries, tourism has developed rapidly in recent years.Museum, as one of important tourism resources, attracts a large number of visitors every year. As museum interpretive text is a bridge connecting exhibits and target readers, its translation study is of great significance. In this thesis, the interpretive texts for porcelain texts in the Palace Museum are investigated. Under the guidance of SFL approach to discourse translation and with methods of sampling study and text analysis, the thesis attempts to analyze discourse differences in the source and target texts in functional achievements. From three aspects of the theory named ideational, interpersonal and textual functions, discourse elements in target texts are compared with that in source texts to show how text functions are reproduced during translation.By analyzing discourse translation, this thesis finds that SFL approach is applicable and useful in guiding museum interpretive text translation. What’s more, four translation suggestions for discourse reconstruction are concluded and proposed from aspects of information, logic, style and culture, which are expected to be helpful for following interpretive text translation studies. |
