Edward Grieg is the most representative musician in Norway in the second half of the 19 th century, and one of the most influential composers of the Nordic national music genre. His creative fields include chamber music, sonatas, piano music, symphony, and some songs. When he studied at the Leipzig Conservatory of Music,he was influenced by traditional German and Austrian music.Later, due to his passion for the Norwegian nation and the encouragement of composers such as Liszt,he developed a personal musical characteristic that was highly characteristic of Norwegian folk composition.Grieg’s Op.19,"Aus Dem Volksleben," is a symbol of the maturity of Grieg’s composition style, which has had a certain positive effect on the exploration of Grieg’s folk music and is of great artistic value. This study mainly includes two parts: theory and practice. The first chapter is an introduction, mainly summarizing the main content of this article, studying domestic and foreign literature, finding a theoretical entry point, and striving for the innovation and applicability of the argument. The second chapter is an introduction to the author’s life, analyzing Grieg’s life and social environment, sorting out the background of Grieg’s music creation, and studying the impact of his growth and life experience on the formation of his Norwegian folk music style. The third chapter deeply analyzes the style of Grieg’s music creation, and explores the characteristics of Norwegian folk music from the aspects of dance music characteristics, harmony application, and mode based on national music elements. This chapter is the focus of this article. The fourth chapter is the practical application part.I have played the entire work in a master’s degree concert,so I have some insights into the performance of this work.I will create a second time based on my playing experience, studying how to integrate theoretical results into actual performance, achieving the unity of knowledge and action, maximizing the expression of the work’s ideas, and endowing myself with my own style.Music originates from life and serves life.I respect and love the cultures of various ethnic groups. As a medium, folk music is contemporary and appreciative. It stimulates hearing and vision in a non material form, creating emotional and even spiritual resonance among people around the world. As the saying goes, music has no boundaries.Starting from a piece of folk music,we can learn about a composer and a nation, gain rich spiritual value from it,and then convey this spirit to more people.
