Narrative perspective plays a crucial role in shaping the narrative style,audio-visual language,and story structure of character documentaries throughout the creation process.Drawing on narrative theory in literature and the unique characteristics of documentary narratives,the author proposes a concept and classification of narrative perspective.Intra-personal perspective and creator intra-perspective are distinguished based on the narrator’s identity attributes.The author contends that intra-perspective enhances the aesthetic function of character documentaries,providing the audience with the aesthetic demand and emotional support required for storytelling.The use of intra-perspective in character documentary creation has gained increased attention in recent years.However,there are issues with the application of intra-figure documentary perspectives,such as deviations between thematic expression and reception,and imbalance between subjectivity and authenticity.Identifying these issues is essential for resolving them.The narrative perspective permeates the entire character documentary creation process,and creators must have a deep understanding of the narrative mechanism of the internal perspective to achieve the best narrative effect and impact.Building on this starting point,this article examines the narrative mechanism of intra-perspective in character documentary creation,drawing on experiences from exemplary character documentaries and personal graduation works.During the planning stage,creators must define the narrative perspective’s classification and characteristics carefully,considering the work’s tone and target audience to ensure that the choice of perspective aligns with the work’s theme and expected narrative effect.During the shooting process,creators must fully utilize intra-personal and creator intra-perspective to provide the richness and multiplicity required for effective storytelling.In the editing stage,creators must deal with the narrative and audiovisual perspective flow and superimposition to convey the work’s intended meaning.The article acknowledges the importance of intra-perspective narrative but also notes its limitations and shortcomings,highlighting the need to balance objective presentation and subjective expression to avoid distortion caused by the subject-object imbalance. |
