Bullying victimization in schools is frequent and widespread, which seriously affects the physical and mental health and social adjustment of bullying victims. In order to investigate the longitudinal relationship between bullying victimization and prosocial behavior and its mechanism,887 junior middle school students were followed up twice during the school term using 5 scales. The results found that:(1)In terms of gender, the level of T1 empathy and T2 prosocial behavior of female students were significantly higher than that of male students, while the level of T1 security was lower than that of male students. In grade, the level of T2 bullying victimization among students in the second grade of middle school was higher than that in the first grade.Prosocial behavior and empathy differed in whether an individual is an only child.T2 prosocial behavior and T1 empathy levels were higher in non-only children than in only children. The level of T1 psychological resilience of urban students was higher than that of rural students. In terms of family situation, students with intact families reported lower levels of bullying victimization at T1 and higher levels of prosocial behavior than students with single parents living with their fathers at T1 and T2.(2)The bullying victimization of junior middle school students can negatively predict the later prosocial behavior, but the prosocial behavior did not predict subsequent levels of bullying victimization.Empathy and sense of security played a partial dual mediating role in the longitudinal relationship between bullying victimization and prosocial behavior.(3)T1 Psychological resilience moderated the relationships between T1 bullying victimization and T2 prosocial behavior,T1 bullying victimization and T1 empathy, and T1 bullying victimization and T1 sense of security.Resilience was protective for the victims of bullying. These suggested that educators should attach importance to the influence of bullying victimization on students’ positive behaviors and emotions. We can use various ways to intervene in the mediating factors that bullying harms individual development, and strive to improve students’ protective resources to minimize the damage to the victims.
