College Students’ Sense Of Power And Prosocial Behavior Tendency:Mediation Of Psychological Privilege And Regulation Of Empathy

Prosocial behavior has always been the frontier field of psychology research.It involves how to maintain the relationship with others,groups and society in daily life.Furthermore,how to properly deal with the present and future,material and spiritual,individual and collective interests,and other psychology issues are also the vital parts of the prosocial behavior.It has positive impact for individual development and social harmony.In recent years,with the deepening of research,prosocial behavior has become a new research hotspot and the research has made tremendous progress.Prosocial behavior is conducive to the establishment of good interpersonal relations and has great significance for the stability and harmony of society.Exploring the mechanism of prosocial behavior and how to promote the occurrence of new social behavior can be significant.With prosocial behavior as the core variable,this study mainly discusses the specific situation characteristics of four variables,including sense of power,prosocial behavior,psychological privilege and empathy.Meanwhile,it explores the mediating role of psychological privilege between sense of power and prosocial behavior,and the moderating role of empathy among the sense of power,prosocial behavior and psychological privilege.According to the influence mechanism of the sense of power,psychological privilege and empathy on prosocial behavior,the paper provides theoretical reference for promoting the occurrence of individual prosocial behavior,and promotes the development of prosocial behavior research.The study discusses the relationship between the sense of power and prosocial behavior,the mediating role of psychological privilege,and the moderating role of empathy in the way of questionnaire investigation.The general sense of power scale,Prosocial Tendencies Measure(PTM),psychological privilege scale,and Basic Empathy Scale(BES)were applied in the online and offline questionnaire investigation which was conducted among 500 college students and postgraduates in a university in Liaoning Province.SPSS25.0 and Process were used for statistical analysis to get the final conclusion:(1)The sense of power is negatively correlated with prosocial behavior;(2)There is a significant positive correlation between psychological privilege and power;Besides,psychological privilege partially mediates the relationship between sense of power and prosocial behavior;(3)Empathy plays a moderating role in the relationship between perceived power and prosocial behavior tendency.Specifically,with the increase of empathy level,the negative predictive effect of perceived power on prosocial behavior tendency is gradually weakened.(4)Empathy plays a moderating role in the relationship between perceived power and psychological privilege.Specifically,as the level of empathy increases,the positive predictive effect of perceived power on psychological privilege decreases gradually.
