The theatrical propaganda of the New Fourth Army during the Anti-Japanese War period specifically refers to the fact that the New Fourth Army during the Anti-Japanese War used the improved Chinese drama as the basic communication channel to publicize the major theories,policies,lines and strategies of the Communist Party of China and the New Fourth Army to the broad masses of the people,so as to cooperate with the specific work in wartime to be carried out smoothly.Exploring its theoretical foundation,the reason why the drama propaganda of the New Fourth Army during the Anti-Japanese War period was able to successfully complete various missionary tasks was that Marxist literary and artistic theory ran through the entire process of work.The people’s nature of literature and art is the core idea of Marxist literary and artistic theory,and the New Fourth Army has always practiced the theoretical connotation and practical requirements of serving the War of Resistance and the people.Looking at the practical preparation,the long-standing Chinese drama has accumulated a wide and profound audience,and the long-term and diversified literary and artistic propaganda practice carried out by the early Communist Party of China under the leadership of the army also provides an effective experience mirror for the army’s drama propaganda,and drama propaganda has become a sharp weapon for the New Fourth Army to implement various popular mobilization work in wartime.Taking the drama propaganda of the New Fourth Army as an example,this paper aims to explain and summarize the theory and practice of the eraization,nationalization and popularization of Marxist literary and art theory during the Anti-Japanese War period.The policy design of drama propaganda of the New Fourth Army reflects the strong guiding role of Marxist literary and art theory,from network construction to work rectification,providing all-round policy support for the organizational leadership and specific implementation of drama propaganda.The establishment of the propaganda body of the New Fourth Army under the guidance of this theory has clarified the fundamental purpose of theatrical propaganda to serve workers,peasants,and soldiers,and scientifically answered such basic questions as "who serves" and "who serves" in literature and art.Under the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of China,the New Fourth Army has vigorously recruited young intellectuals into the propaganda camp,given them full political trust and care for their lives,and actively discovered and retained talents.At the same time,the New Fourth Army has precisely combined the war situation with the reality of drama workers,formulated a specific talent training plan,insisted on making the best use of people’s talents and suitable for their posts,released the talents and potential of drama workers to the greatest extent,constantly strengthened their political centripetal force and revolutionary mobilization power,achieved the unity of knowledge and action,and improved the propaganda efficiency of the army as a whole.During the Anti-Japanese War period,theatrical propaganda abandoned the pure army and the Eighth Route Army,the drama propaganda of the New Fourth Army has demonstrated its unique advantages and effects.In the propaganda struggle with the Kuomintang,the New Fourth Army keenly caught the disadvantages and shortcomings of the other side in the drama propaganda,so it focused on improving the scale of the army’s drama propaganda organization and professional ability.The construction of propaganda subjects has changed from "scarce intellectuals and peasants" at the beginning to "celebrities from all sides".Through talent recruitment,education and training,an "iron army" of propaganda with firm politics and strong skills has been built.In the top-down practice of drama propaganda,the New Fourth Army paid attention to the demonstration and guidance of the local masses,encouraged and personally guided the masses to launch drama propaganda activities from the bottom up.With the continuous expansion of publicity scale and influence,the general public has become the main force of drama publicity.In the local publicity practice,the fit between traditional Chinese literary and artistic forms and the spirit of Marxist literary and artistic theory was constantly adjusted,and the essence of local operas and the national revolutionary thoughts were refined and integrated,so that the reformed Anti-Japanese War operas could not only retain the national aesthetic significance but also have the core of revolutionary thoughts,so as to meet the preferences of the people and the demands of The Times.Maximize the drama propaganda wartime mobilization force
