Reality shows are one of the most important forms of programming in television media. In recent years,a new type of reality show-love observation programs have shown explosive development. This type of program inherits the process setting of dating reality shows such as "Temptation Island" and the documentary filming of24-hour life, continuing the purpose of dating programs such as "If You Are the One" to form a close relationship between the opposite sex, while adding some new elements-studios and observation groups. The emergence of observation groups has changed the one-dimensional viewing mode in previous programs of this kind, because observation groups are both the subject to watch and the object to be watched. On the one hand, they observe the love process of romantic guests in the documentary space, and on the other hand, they are watched by the audience outside the screen. The viewing perspective has also shifted from one-dimensional gaze to multidimensional observation, which seems to pose a challenge to the operational mechanism of Foucault’s panoramic openness. This study starts from the "observation" characteristics of the program, guided by the power ideas of the Lux,Frankfurt School, and Foucault school.Representative love observation programs in recent years are selected as research samples, and qualitative analysis methods are used to sort out the program content, bullet screen, and other textual information.Through a comparative analysis of love observation programs and traditional marriage and love programs,it was found that the text of love observation programs showed significant changes from three dimensions: visual style, body model, and cultural orientation: from realistic life to romantic visual style, from desire object to free subject aesthetic tendency, and from multiculturalism to cultural orientation of petty bourgeoisie sentiment. This study aims to explore the interactive relationship between media discourse, power, and popular culture by combining program changes and values in social contexts.Research has found that the program team constructs a romantic visual style, showcases a free new body that breaks through desire objects, and a culture guided by the "petty bourgeoisie sentiment";Based on their own social experience and cognitive structure, the observation group attempts to actively establish meaningful new texts with a new power identity, assuming the role of creators of television texts, and promoting the updating and upgrading of social concepts; The rational thinking and guidance on the concept of marriage and love in the program, the promotion of a new body with subjective consciousness, and the consolidation of the status of petty bourgeoisie culture in the media context all demonstrate that the media is trying to establish new rules, systems, and orders to regulate the public’s values while catering to their preferences.
