Nowadays,the mental health problems of college students are facing challenges,and a good intimate relationship is one of the important protective factors for the mental health of college students,so it is necessary to provide them with self-help tools that can improve the quality of intimate relationship.Self-compassion means treating yourself with kindness and warmth during times of distress.Previous research has shown that people who are good at self-compassion are more likely to have high-quality relationships,partly because they respond more actively to problems in their relationships.At the same time,previous studies have pointed out that adult attachment significantly affects self-compassion,and the higher the level of attachment insecurity,the lower the level of self-compassion.In order to provide theoretical support for the intervention of intimate relationship quality,we need to explore the relationship between adult attachment,self-compassion,active coping and intimate relationship quality.Therefore,in study 1,questionnaire survey was conducted to analyze the relationship among adult attachment,self-compassion,positive coping and intimate relationship quality among college students based on 361 valid questionnaires collected,and the conclusion was drawn that self-compassion and positive coping had a chainmediated effect between attachment anxiety,attachment avoidance and intimate relationship quality.On the basis of study 1,study 2 recruited 79 college students in romantic relationships to record self-compassion diaries for 21 days to explore the intervention effect of self-compassion diary on the quality of intimate relationships.An analysis of intervention outcomes based on the final 60 valid data found that self-compassion diaries significantly improved relationship quality.Finally,according to the intervention results of study 2,we adopted structural equation modeling and Grounded theory to explore whether different attachment dimensions have different influences on the effect of self-compassion diary intervention.The result showed that different attachment dimensions might affect how the improvement of the quality of intimate relationship happened.To be specific,the negative effects of attachment anxiety on intimate relationships quality could weakened by the improvement of self-compassion,while the negative effects of attachment avoidance on intimate relationships quality could be weakened by the improvement of active coping.The former benefits from the improvement of emotional regulation and the latter from the improvement of selfawareness.The results of this study have certain enlightening significance for the psychological growth of college students and the work of mental health in colleges and universities.Self-compassion diary can be applied as a self-help tool to improve mental health and relationship quality for college students,and it is worth promoting by mental health workers in college students,especially those with high attachment anxiety. |
