| Cooperation is a key driver of the times and an important part of social interaction.Yet some individuals face numerous social adjustment difficulties and exhibit less pro-social behavior due to their pronounced autistic traits, during which a sense of security may be a key factor. Therefore, the following three studies were designed to explore the importance of security in the cooperation of college students with high autistic traits. In Study 1,to investigate the relationship between autistic traits, sense of security and cooperative tendencies among college students, the Autistic Trait Questionnaire, the Sense of Security Scale for College Students and the Cooperative Tendency Scale were administered to644 college students in a university in Fujian Province. The results showed that(1)the level of security and cooperative tendency of male students were significantly lower than that of female students, and the security and cooperative tendency of students with high autistic traits were significantly lower than that of students with low autistic traits.(2)There was a significant correlation between autistic traits, sense of security and cooperative tendency among college students.(3)College students’ autistic traits and sense of security had a predictive effect on the tendency to cooperate, and sense of security played a partially mediating role between autistic traits and the tendency to cooperate. In Study 2,38 college students each with high and low subgroups of autistic traits were selected to perform recall writing for security priming and to complete a public goods dilemma task using a 2(autistic trait: high subgroup, low subgroup)× 2(security priming:security initiation group, neutral control group)between-subjects design. The results found that(1)the extrapolated cooperative behaviors of individuals with high autistic traits were significantly different from those of individuals with low autistic traits.(2)Individuals’ security-initiated episodic cooperative behavior was significantly different from neutral-initiated episodic cooperative behavior.(3)At the level of the high autistic trait group, episodic cooperative behaviors were significantly higher for security priming than for neutral-initiated episodic cooperative behaviors, and at the level of the low autistic trait group, there were no significant differences across initiation conditions. In Study 3,27 college students each with high and low subgroups of autistic traits were selected to perform a 2(autistic trait: high subgroup, low subgroup)× 2(security priming:security priming group, neutral control group)between-subjects design with video material for security initiation and to complete the Implicit Cooperation Test. The results revealed that(1)at the level of the high autistic trait group, the implicit cooperative behavior of the sense of security priming was significantly higher than the implicit cooperative behavior of the neutral initiation, and at the level of the low autistic trait group, there was no significant difference between the different initiation conditions.(2)At the level of security priming implicit cooperative behavior was not significantly different between the high and low autistic trait groups, and at the level of neutral-initiated implicit cooperative behavior was significantly higher in the low autistic trait group than in the high autistic trait group. In summary,it can be seen that security in college student groups partially mediates the relationship between autistic traits and cooperative tendencies, and that security priming can positively influence individuals’ cooperative behaviors, especially the implicit cooperative behaviors of individuals with high autistic traits. |
