Abstract/Summary:
Childhood psychological abuse refers to the long-term and repeated inappropriate behaviors taken by people who are responsible for and close to children.Although these behaviors do not involve physical contact with children,they will affect the development of children’s cognition,emotion and behavior.Individuals exposed to psychological abuse in childhood may develop poor cognitive styles that interfere with the individual’s ability to solve problems and thus affect their physical and mental health.In order to further understand how psychological abuse affects depression,this study explored the mediating role of rumination and resilience in the influence of childhood psychological abuse on depressive mood,and to test the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive group psychological counseling on reducing rumination and improving depression,offer suggestions on how to improve the depressive mood of rural high school students.Questionnaire survey and experimental intervention were used in this study.In the first study,questionnaire survey was used to explore the relationship among childhood psychological abuse,rumination,mental resilience and depression of rural high school students,the Childhood Psychological Abuse Scale,Rumination Thinking Scale,Mental Resilience Scale,and Depression Scale were used as measuring tools to investigate 1087 rural high school students in Guangxi.The second study is an experimental intervention study to explore the effect of mindfulness cognitive group psychological counseling on rumination and depression of rural high school students.Through open recruitment and individual interviews in the school,40 qualified students were selected and randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group.The experimental group received group counseling once a week for 8 weeks,while the control group received self-study courses.Finally,by analyzing the quantitative data and qualitative data obtained in the process of group psychological counseling,the effect of intervention is discussed.The results are as follows:1.Psychological abuse in childhood has significant differences in the marital status of both parents;In rumination thinking,there were significant differences in gender,marital status of parents and educational level of fathers.There are significant differences in psychological resilience in gender and marital status of parents.There were significant differences in depressive mood in gender and marital status of parents.2.There was a significant correlation between childhood psychological abuse,rumination thinking,mental resilience and depressive mood,wherein childhood psychological abuse could positively predict rumination and depressive mood,and negatively predict mental resilience,rumination could positively predict depressive mood,negatively predict mental resilience,and negatively predict depressive mood;3.The mediating effect results showed that ruminative thinking and mental resilience played a chain mediating role between childhood psychological abuse and depression,and ruminative thinking and mental resilience played a complete mediating role between childhood psychological abuse and depression.4.After the mindfulness cognitive group counseling,the experimental group showed significant differences in ruminative thinking and depression before and after the test,and significantly different from the control group after the test.To sum up,it can be concluded that childhood psychological abuse affects rural high school students’ depression indirectly through rumination and mental resilience;Mindfulness-based cognitive group counseling can reduce students’ rumination and improve their depression.
