English curriculum in senior high school mainly focuses on cultivating students’ four basic skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing.English curriculum standards for senior high school stipulate the level of English writing ability that high school students must achieve,and vocabulary,sentence structure,writing strategies and thinking abilities are all necessary conditions for students to complete writing.Writing is the key and difficult point in teaching,but in actual senior high school English writing,students’ logical thinking and divergent thinking need to be improved.Mind mapping is an effective thinking mode,which can visualize the thinking process.It is very useful for organizing information and discovering the connection between old and new information,and it is of great help to students’ writing.Therefore,this study attempts to apply mind mapping to senior high school English writing teaching,and uses action research to discuss the following questions:(1)How to adapt and improve the teaching of English writing using mind mapping?(2)How does the application of mind mapping affect high school students’ English writing interests and scores?This study applied mind mapping to high school English writing teaching,and conducted an action research in the author’s internship class-Class 12,Grade Two of a certain high school in Qinhuangdao City,which lasted one semester.The researcher used three research tools: questionnaire,test and interview to collect data,and used SPSS 27.0 to make quantitative analysis of relevant data.Through a semester-long action research on English writing teaching in senior high school,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The application and improvement of mind mapping in writing teaching improves the teaching effect of English writing.(2)Mind mapping has a positive effect on students’ interest in English writing.To a certain extent,mind mapping changes students’ writing attitude and mobilize students’ enthusiasm for writing.At the same time,mind mapping gives students ample space to learn.(3)The application of mind mapping to writing teaching was conducive to improving students’ English writing performance and writing ability.Through the use of mind mapping,students can better conceive articles,sort out information,and accumulate and rationally organize writing materials.In addition,mind mapping can also help students to structure and organize their writing logically,and their writing ability is significantly improved.This study also puts forward some suggestions for the teaching of English writing in high school using mind mapping,such as,teachers should pay attention to guiding students to draw mind maps quickly;writing teaching using mind mapping should be designed according to students’ writing status and cognitive thinking level,with a view to providing some new ideas and methods for the teaching of English writing in high school in the future. |
