At present, with the continuous development of modern sensor technology, people can better use various intelligent devices to obtain information and data.Smart helmets have long been widely used in many fields such as traffic driving, industrial production and military activities, and it has become an indispensable protective equipment in many scenarios. However, due to the limitations of people’s cognitive level of information, safety accidents caused by difficulties in accessing information, cognitive processing and information transmission are also frequent. In addition, most of the current smart helmet research and development is focused on hardware and functional integration, neglecting the human-machine interface design of the background monitoring system connected to the helmet, thus making the monitoring interface difficult to operate, frequent misuse, low operational efficiency and other problems, which can easily generate safety risks. This paper is based on the project "Intelligent Industrial Control Helmet Design" by Southeast University, which aims to design a monitoring system interface for coal mines and construction sites based on the cognitive characteristics of users in the monitoring environment and combined with cognitive psychology theory.By establishing a link between cognitive psychology and interface design, the project aims to reduce human error caused by the incompatibility of interface information design with the user’s cognitive model, and to ensure that the cognitive load of the human-machine interface design is always within a reasonable range. The main research elements and innovations of the thesis are as follows.1.Firstly,we conducted a study on cognitive psychology and interface design, from which we analyzed and extracted content that can guide the interface design of smart helmet monitoring systems.2.Based on the analysis of the cognitive mechanism of the monitor under the monitoring operation, the interface design principles of the intelligent helmet monitoring system based on cognitive psychology are proposed, including the interface design principles for human perception characteristics, human attention characteristics, human memory characteristics and human reflection characteristics.3.The information structure of the monitoring system and the functions of each sub-system module are analyzed and studied, and the design content of the system interface is clarified.4.A comprehensive evaluation of the interface of the intelligent helmet monitoring system was conducted based on the NASA-TLX improvement scale,SUS usability scale and GOMS interaction quantitative evaluation.Through a comparative analysis of the experimental data of the original system interface and the improved system interface, the feasibility of the interface design principles based on cognitive psychology theory was verified and the subsequent iterative design of the interface was assisted. The system interface design practice is completed.
