This report is based upon the C-E translation practice of Parents’ Romance(Chapter 1 and Chapter 2)written by Liu Jing.Parents’ Romance is a novella that deals with marriage, love and family. Its language style is very colloquial and natural. In this novella, the author tells the story of her parents and expresses her feelings about their marriage. Also, under the socioeconomic background of China in the1950 s,the author gives an analysis of how her parents accommodate each other gradually. In this novella,a lot of words and phrases with Chinese characteristics are employed.Published in 2019,Parents’ Romance is without English version yet.Guided by the “three-dimensional” transformation of Eco-translatology proposed by Hu Gengshen,a famous linguist and translation theorist of Tsinghua University, this report analyzes the translation of Parents’ Romance from linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions during the process of translation.Chinese literary works involve factors such as culture, language and history;therefore, the author of the report adopts different translation methods considering the differences between English and Chinese in linguistic, cultural, and communicative levels, such as free translation, amplification and shift of voice. This report explores the feasibility of the “three-dimensional” transformation in the translation of Chinese literary works, and adopts corresponding translation techniques for specific problem in the process of translation.By making an analysis of the translation of Parents’ Romance from “three-dimensional” transformation of Eco-translatology,the author hopes that this report can serve as a reference for the translation of other similar literary works.
