In Zhu Liangzhi’s Sixteen Views of Southern Painting,he wrote that "An important feature of the development of literati painting is the integration of Chinese painting skills, hills and valleys(refers to the figurative element in literati painting)and atmosphere." These three constitute the inner flow the core spirit of literati painting, namely the realm of life,in which Chinese painting skills play a very important role as a medium. The hills and valleys are visualized through the Chinese painting skills, and the atmosphere is conveyed and developed through the Chinese painting skills, which together form the reality of the painter’s life.On the basis of Dong Yuan’s "Light Ink and Thin Mist",which is a set of formula covering the technique of wrinkling, the landscape style of Jiangnan and the ethereal realm,Ju Ran has incorporated the majestic power of northern landscape and the spirit and interest of the scholars, and uses similar Chinese painting skills to express a realm different from Dong Yuan’s,which has both humanistic temperature and wild spirit. From the perspective of art history,Ju Ran’s landscape paintings have realized the fusion of the north and the south, and the beautiful ink and brush of the south is expressed with the high and open landscapes of the north, which combines the majestic atmosphere of the north with the beauty and calmness of the south. From the perspective of Chinese painting skills,Ju Ran draws his own hills and valleys with Chinese painting skills that are rich in the meaningfulness and wildness, integrating Chinese painting skills with the objects of the mountains and rivers, which has a great influence on the literati painters of later generations.Through the interpretation of Ju Ran’s Chinese painting skill language and style, this project attempts to investigate how he developed his own unique formula of "Light Ink and Thin Mist",which was derived from Dong Yuan, and how it was developed and continued by later painters." It is hoped to explore his own possibilities through his perception of Ju Ran’s landscape paintings, and to apply Ju Ran’s Chinese painting skill language and the concept of fusion to the sketching and creation by combining modern aesthetics. On the basis of sorting out, summarizing and concluding the experience of previous artists, and combining the personal experience of learning about the landscape of Ju Ran and modern aesthetic concepts, the theory of Chinese painting skills will be applied in the creation to achieve the effect of the combination of spirit and aesthetic conception, thus solving the problem of the author’s creation at the postgraduate stage and providing reference for the creation of contemporary landscape painting and research on Chinese painting skills.
