This report is a translation report on Loving in the War Years(Chapter3&4)written by Cherrie Moraga,which focuses on the injustice Cherrie Moraga suffered from society as a woman writer in her career and daily life in the late 20 th century.The novel is concise but attracting.This translation is based on Venuti’s cultural translation concept,according to which the connotation of the source text should not be changed,while the target text ought to be expressed in a smooth and faithful manner.The report consists of four parts based on the translation practice.The first chapter deals with the background of the translation project.The second chapter is about the process of the practice.The third chapter analyzes the methods employed when coping with the difficulties in translation: the methods of conversion,addition and omission are employed to achieve accurate translation of words;preposition,repetition and splitting,to attain clarity and fluency of the sentences;reference,conjunction and domestication are used respectively to accomplish smoothness and coherence of discourse.The fourth chapter summarizes the experience gained from the completion of the project,and points out limitations of the practice.The translator hopes that this practice report can provide some help and references for translation work in the same field.
