| Gao Jianfu is a famous revolutionist, traditional Chinese painter, and fine art educator in modern China. His nearly half a century of deep exploration in the field of art education has accumulated rich teaching experience for the Chinese fine arts education community, which is in the early stages of reform, and has effectively promoted the transformation of traditional fine arts education models to modern academic systems. The formation of Gao Jianfu’s fine art educational thoughts are closely related to his political identity and the special era background in which he lived. Before the 1920 s,Gao mainly directed fine art education as a social revolutionist.During this period,he paid more attention to the "practical" function of fine art, that is,advocating "utilitarian" education, and through a series of measures such as establishing newspapers and developing arts and crafts to echo Sun Yat sen’s thought of people’s livelihood; After the 1920 s,as a pure painter and fine art educator,Gao paid more attention to the ontological value and spiritual role of art, emphasizing the importance of "aesthetic education" in teaching.Starting from the perspective of pedagogy and art history research, this article takes Gao Jianfu as a research case, focusing on studying his fine art educational thoughts,in an attempt to restore their era value and historical significance in the history of art education in the 20 th century. On the one hand,as an ideological resource,Gao Jianfu’s thoughts on fine art education can provide a reductive insight into the evolution and development trend of the transformation of the traditional fine art education system to the modern model throughout the Republic of China period from its individual examples; On the other hand,as a reform strategy,it can provide exploratory theoretical reference examples for the basic construction of modern academic fine art education majors. The paper starts its research from four chapters. The first chapter combs and integrates the trajectory of Gao Jianfu’s artistic activities through the review of relevant historical documents and historical facts, and then divides his academic career into four main stages for discussion.Based on the macro era background and micro regional cultural history,it explores the internal and external motivations for the formation of his artistic education thoughts; The second chapter puts Gao Jianfu’s social aesthetic education practice and school teaching activities in the cultural context of the intersection of the new and old transformation of modern and contemporary fine art education, examines its complex educational activities from multiple angles and levels, and reveals that wooden peg’s aesthetic education ideology not only inherits the traditional Chinese teaching philosophy but also integrates the modern western education model; The third chapter fully affirms its positive impact on the development of Chinese art, while pointing out the historical and cognitive limitations of his educational ideas due to his own life experience, cognitive level of painting, and subjective preferences; The fourth chapter discusses the theoretical significance and suggestive value of Gao Jianfu’s fine art educational thoughts on modern fine art education and art practice from the perspective of integrating theory and practice. |
