A Study Of The Unreality In Luc Tuymans’ Works

Today,with the popularity of new media,we are heavily wrapped by false images and fast-food information,and painting plays its value.Although the creation of this media is slow,it can play a role in the passage of years and truly record the real world we live in.From the perspective of "reality",this paper analyzes Luc Tuymans’ s works with "unreality" as the clue.Luc Tuymans,born in Belgium in 1958,has been living in nearby Antwerp.As one of the most outstanding artists in the field of painting since the 1980 s,he deeply thought about the possibility of symbolism and narration in figurative painting and images,which are the basis of contemporary painting,and made an important contribution to the revival of painting.In terms of form,Tuymans’ s painting with distinctive style is still a reproducible art category in the traditional sense,with strong realistic characteristics.It is usually based on ready-made pictures,and the focus of its choice of images is: first,the authenticity of images and can reflect social reality;Second,the image itself implies its own related characteristics.Through the analysis of his works,it is found that Tuymans’ objective description of reality is full of touching power,which can be attributed to the effect of unrealistic factors.Because reality and non reality are semantically complementary,the discussion of non reality should be based on reality.This paper mainly analyzes the origin and performance characteristics of the formation of non reality factors in the artist’s works from the artist’s image creation methods and expression techniques,based on the artist’s concern for reality.It can be concluded that the reality depicted by Tuymans is not a simple reproduction and imitation,but a keen insight,which integrates various unrealistic factors such as his understanding and feeling of the visible world into the picture.It is precisely because of the artist’s perception of unreality and keen grasp of reality that the traditional painting can create new significance today.In the contemporary context,Tuymans’ painting activates the corresponding relationship between text and content,breaks free from the bondage of representation and liberates from a single emotion,which makes the painting involve a wider context.Behind the seemingly random smearing and rough traces in his pictures,it reflects the truth lost in the new media era and the naked social reality exposed.
