How To Find The Fulcrum Of Character Voice Shaping Through Musical Script

Musical plays have diversified artistic characteristics.Different dramatic situations are accompanied by different voices.Actors should start from the musical script(including drama text and music text),study the characters in depth,in order to deeply understand the creative intention and goal of the creators,and fundamentally find the fulcrum of each character’s voice,so as to better interpret each character.The musical I Love You,You’re Perfect,Now Change(hereinafter referred to as I Love You)consists of 16 scene segments,with two male and two female actors playing multiple roles."Diversity" is the focus and difficulty of characterization.I have the honor to participate in the immersive version of the musical "I Love You" produced by China’s Shanghai Drama Art Center in 2022.Based on the existing references at home and abroad,and in combination with my academic and practical experience,I share my methods and experience in finding the voice of characters through the musical script.This article is divided into three chapters: the first chapter is an overview of the musical "I love you",divided into the plot introduction,creative process and research value;the second chapter is how to find the fulcrum of character voice shaping through script analysis.First,objectively analyze the musical script,which is divided into drama text part and music text part.Second,subjective character voice shaping;The third chapter is to find out how to shape the voice of the characters by taking the specific segment of the musical I Love You as an example.
