| The report is based on the E-C translation practice of the novel Princess Seer 2:Power and Blood,written by the Russian author Olga Kryuchkova.Up to now,there has been no translation in China.Fiberead Inc.launched the translation project in2021.The translator was authorized to work with another two translators and she completed this task smoothly under the guidance of Skopos theory by adopting appropriate translation strategies.This translation report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the background of the translation task,the features of the source text and the entruster’s requirements.The second chapter provides a description of the translation process.The translator made adequate preparations before translating,studied relevant information of the source text,and learned background knowledge of Slavic national culture,as well as translation theories.The translation process was composed of three steps: the first draft,checking and revision,and proofreading and polishing,and the translator provided a detailed description of each step.The third chapter is theoretical framework.As Slavic culture is unfamiliar to Chinese,the translator chose the Skopos theory as the guiding theory,trying to realize the communicative purpose of the translation and accurately achieve an desired effect.The fourth chapter is case analysis.In order to make the translation more coherent and meaningful in the context of target language readers,the translator flexibly uses a variety of translation strategies.This chapter focuses on three types of case analysis,namely,conversations,environment descriptions and action descriptions,which embody the author’s writing technique and take up a large part of the novel.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which summarizes the gains and shortcomings in this translation practice.The translator hopes that this report will provide some references to the translators who are interested in translating fantasy novels. |
