Princess Sirindhorn is regarded as the "Princess of China",and her deep love for Chinese culture is evident from her years of dedication to spread and introduce Chinese literature to the Thai people in various fields.Language is the carrier of culture. In order to gain an in-depth understanding of China,Princess Sirindhorn began to learn Chinese in 1980 and visited China a year later. She was the first member of the Thai royal family to visit China after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. She has visited China about 50 times.Affected by her, there is a trend of "China fever" and "Chinese fever" in Thailand. As an important person in the exchanges between China and Thailand,Princess Sirindhorn uses literature as a medium to promote cognition and understanding between the cultures of the two countries through her own literary creations and translations.Since translating the first Chinese work Wang Meng’s novel Butterfly in 1994,she has worked hard for many years and has published 18 translated works so far, including 9 novellas,5 short stories,1 drama and 3 essays. That Autumn,That City is the work of Chi Li,a famous Chinese female writer. Its Thai version was translated by Princess Sirindhorn and published in Thailand, which is well received by readers. This article focuses on the manipulation theory of André Lefevere, and analyzes the Thai translation version of That Autumn,That City from three aspects: ideology, poetics and patronage. From the perspective of social culture, the original work of That Autumn,That City and its Thai version are compared and studied, and then the similarities and differences between Chinese and Thai cultures highlighted during the period are examined. The first chapter of the thesis is to sort out and summarize the princess and Chinese learning and Chinese literature translation activities. The second chapter focuses on the influence of ideology on the Thai version of That Autumn,That City, focusing on analyzing the historical background of the novel’s era, feminist characteristics and regional cultural themes in the translation, commenting on the pros and cons of the translation and its reasons, and at the same time for the translator. The motivation for object selection is explored. The third chapter, going deep into the translation, from the perspective of poetics, examines the various translation methods used in the Thai version of That Autumn,That City.In order to convey the content accurately and naturally, the translator must not only grasp the original text, but also be able to express it fluently in the target language. This is mainly reflected in the differences between Chinese and Thai languages, the use of metaphors and things with rich cultural connotations in Princess Sirindhorn’s translation. The fourth chapter discusses the influence of the patronage on the Thai version of That Autumn,That City. The long-term support of the Nanmeebooks Publications and the status of Princess Sirindhorn herself are important factors for her translation to be published smoothly and to gain wider influence. In a word, the Thai translation of That Autumn,That City better conveys the reflection of the original work on Chinese culture, history and times, and discusses it from the perspectives of ideology, poetics and patronage, which helps to better understand the translator’s translation target selection, specific translation practices, and the dissemination and influence of translations. The Thai version of That Autumn,That City has both aesthetic and social value, showing Princess Sirindhorn’s achievements in promoting literary and cultural exchanges between China and Thailand.Princess Sirindhorn is a good role model, with a spirit of continuous learning throughout her life, and through her knowledge of Chinese language and culture, she has made many contributions to the people. The thesis’ s author is a Thai student who studied Chinese language and literature in China hopes to continue to be a force in promoting exchanges between China and Thailand.China has given the author the opportunity to study abroad and meaningful experience, and the author will pass on the acquired knowledge to the Thai people to make a useful contribution. As an international student, due to limited knowledge and language skills, there are inevitably deficiencies, hope to get the guidance from teachers.
