A Comparative Study Of Digital Painting And Oil Painting

In today’s digital information age,our lifestyle has changed greatly.The electronic screen has become almost all the channels in people’s lives.At the same time,the development of digital technology also gives birth to a new medium in painting creation-digital painting.Different from the computer painting works directly generated by coding,this paper mainly discusses digital painting with the nature of painting which is created by computer software as the tool.It is different from any kind of painting that has appeared in the past.As a tool for painting,a computer’s virtual character enables painting to gain a great span in the medium,which also makes traditional oil painting face great challenges.The future development of easel painting and whether digital painting is artistic are frequently discussed.However,the emergence and development of any material is for the fundamental purpose of serving the thought.The subjectivity of the creator determines whether the painting medium can rise from a tool to a work of art.Today,there is little value in discussing which materials should be used or which art forms should exist.Art is diversified,and painting is becoming more and more diversified in its development,which also determines the trend of diversification in the use of media and the way of creation.Faced with the impact of virtual painting media,should creators fully embrace,combine or stick to traditional painting methods?This paper aims to clarify the similarities and differences between the new and old media in the creation process and works,their own characteristics and contemporary creation of mutual integration through the comparative study of digital painting and oil painting in the painting creation mode,to explore the value of the two under the diversified development of painting and the problems that should be paid attention to.Thus,it provides some ideas for how to correctly understand the relationship between virtual media and traditional media and make painting tools better serve for creation.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of the article.The second chapter firstly summarizes the origin and development status of digital painting and oil painting,which pave the way for the next comparative study.The third chapter is a comparative study of digital painting and oil painting in the creation process,respectively,in the preparation of media,painting conception and reference and perception in the process of painting.The fourth chapter is a comparative study of digital painting and oil painting in the creation of works,including the texture effect presented by the two works,common themes and styles,and the final preservation and display of the works.The fifth chapter,through the detailed comparison of the first two chapters,summarizes and analyzes the relationship between digital painting and oil painting in creation and their own value,as well as the way of their integration in creation under the trend of diversified development of painting,and makes creative practice in this regard.Finally,the paper makes a summary and outlook on the future development of painting creation in the digital age.
