| This paper probes into the translation of "inanimate " nouns in Chinese from the perspective of "vitality".According to the investigation of corpus,we find that there are many sentences with "inanimate" nouns as the subject in modern Chinese. There are few researches on Chinese subjects from the perspective of life category, and even fewer researches on the translation of Chinese "inanimate" nouns from the perspective of life. This is the focus of this paper and also the innovation point. It also makes a literature review of "inanimate" nouns, vitality,Chinese subject and the spatiotemporal mechanism of speech grammar, proving that the vitality theory can clearly and objectively analyze the maintenance translation of Chinese "inanimate" nouns subject.First of all, based on the research on the degree of life, the "non-life" noun is defined as the noun [-self-control ability,-nervous system,-feeling,-thinking ability,-culture],and the subject of this kind of noun is explored.Based on a comprehensive analysis of the corpus,"inanimate" noun subjects are divided into six categories:activities and events, states and characteristics, emotions and thinking, human body and words and deeds, nature and objects, and time and space. Then, the classified "inanimate" nouns are classified into the life degree grade.Through data statistics and corpus analysis, they are ranked from high to low life degree as follows:Human body and words > nature and objects > emotion and thinking > states and characteristics >activities and events > time and space, and then conduct corpus analysis on the conventional translation(subject correspondence)and unconventional translation(subject non-correspondence)of different types of "inanimate" noun subjects, and analyze the reasons for the use of "inanimate" noun subjects with the speaker’s spacetime mechanism.Through the comparative analysis of Chinese and Uygur texts,it is found that the degree of life affects the stability of syntactic structure.Nouns with high degree of life are more stable in syntactic structure than those with low degree of life.Nouns with low degree of life are more dependent on the support of living nouns. Finally, from the perspective of life, the translation of different types of inanimate nouns is analyzed and summarized, and the translation methods are proposed. It is found through research that compared with modern Uyghur, modern Chinese is more inclusive of inanimate nouns as the subject, which is also an embodiment of language simplification. However,in the translation process, the accuracy of translation and conforming to the expression habits of the target language are more important than following the literariness of the original text. Therefore,it is necessary to follow Uyghur language practice when translating the subject of inanimate nouns They tend to use nouns with high vitality as the subject, and look for nouns with high vitality that are closely related to the subject in sentences, which not only conforms to the Uyghur language expression habits, but also ensures the accuracy of the target language. It also discusses the subject of the subject sentence, existing sentence,subject-predicate phrase and non-living noun, and points out that it is necessary to use literal translation, transtranslation, syntactic, clause method and other translation methods in accordance with the original text to translate the Uyghur language in line with the expression habits. |
