| Since the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the economic and trade exchanges between China and Myanmar have become more frequent, and the relationship has also become increasingly warm. The number of Chinese families immigrating to Myanmar is increasing, and more and more migrant families plan Chinese into the language within their families. This article studies the language planning of ethnic Chinese families in Myanmar from a micro family perspective in a macro social context,in order to gain an in-depth understanding of the family language life of ethnic Chinese in Myanmar, and provide some reference language education suggestions that meet practical needs in order to better inherit and disseminate Chinese overseas. This article mainly takes the Chinese families of the Dahua Buddhist Scripture Demonstration School in Dachili,Myanmar as the research object, conducts a questionnaire survey on 91 families of Chinese students and their parents attending the school, and interviews three representative Chinese families.Based on statistical questionnaire data and interview results, this paper explores the language planning situation of Chinese families in Dahua Buddhist Scripture Demonstration School. The study mainly examines the family language planning of ethnic Chinese in Myanmar in terms of language awareness, language practice, and language management in a multi context context.According to the survey, the factors thataffect the language planning of Chinese families in Tachili City,Myanmar are mainly reflected in social and family factors.Although the current use of dialects as the main mode of family language is relatively large, given that Burmese is the main core language policy in Myanmar,English is also recognized as the first foreign language in Myanmar, and Chinese also has a certain influence in the local area,The language ideology of many Chinese families is gradually and positively inclined towards the current situation of multilingualism, but generally tends to develop their Chinese language abilities. At the same time, parents’ language management for their children is relatively lax,and their management methods are more traditional. In addition to relying on school and tutor education, daily language use among family members, and reading related books, they rarely use more online resources to assist their children in language learning. We also found that in their family’s language planning process, there are still major issues such as lack of relevant theoretical guidance, unreasonable language planning structure, and insufficient parental involvement. Finally, this article proposes suggestions to improve the effectiveness of family language planning from the three levels of government, school, and family, with a view to resolving some of the difficulties faced by Myanmar Chinese family language planning. |
