A Practice Report On E-C Translation Of Reflective Practice For Teaching In Lifelong Learning(Excerpts)

In the evolving education sector,reflective teaching has become increasingly important and a heated topic of teacher’s professional development.Wider attention has been drawn to the study of reflective teaching.The book Reflective Practice for Teaching in Lifelong Learning provides systematic and scientific theoretical guidance and case study;therefore,the author selects Chapter 1-3 as the translation material,which mainly focuses on the process,models and practical application of reflective teaching through various teaching cases.This report summarizes the translation process under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s semantic and communicative translation theory as well as analyzes the applicability of this theory to academic works on education,aiming to provide reference for the translation of similar texts.The original text is an academic work on education and its language is rigorous,objective and precise.It is categorized as an informative text,but with strong logic and distinct individual style.Under the guidance of semantic and communicative translation,the author uses division,restructuring,conversion and etc.to solve different translation problems,and puts forward specific translation skills and their effects for translation difficulties such as terminology,polysemy,passive sentences,compound sentences,the cohesion and coherence of discourse and the reproduction of original text style.Through this translation practice,the author finds that though different in emphasis,semantic and communicative translation are often used flexibly.This study shows the instructive significance of semantic and communicative translation to the translation of academic texts on education.
