The Research Of The Syntax,Semantics And Text-Pragmatic Function Of "Daxiao (大小)"

The Antisense adverb is a special category of adverbs.Although they show group similarity in linguistic evolution,the semantics and functions of these adverbs have their individual characteristics due to the differences in the cognitive domain,usage frequency and linguistic environment of the morphemes.In this paper,we take the adverb"Daxiao(大小)"as the main object of study,discuss it from the perspectives of diachrony and synchrony.We also compare the similarities and differences between"Daxiao(大小)","Haodai(好歹)"and"Duoshao(多少)"from multiple perspectives.This paper is divided into six parts:Chapter one is an introduction,which explains the significance of the research and gives a comprehensive overview of the current status of the research on adverbs of"Daxiao(大小)"and the Antisense adverb.This chapter also illustrate what research theories and methods are used in the research and what corpuses are used.Chapter two examines the syntax and semantics of"Daxiao(大小)",describes the syntactic position and grammatical function of"Daxiao(大小)",and explores the semantic orientation of"Daxiao(大小)"by using semantic orientation analysis.Chapter three examines the distribution of the syntactic categories of"Daxiao(大小)"based on corpus,and describes the pragmatic functions of"Daxiao(大小)"from three aspects:expression,evaluation and emphasis.Chapter four explores the evolution of"Daxiao(大小)".Describe the lexicalization and grammatization of"Daxiao(大小)"and explore the motives and mechanisms of its grammatization.The motivation for the grammaticalization of"Daxiao(大小)"includes both syntactic position and subjectivation:The change of syntactic position provides an important condition for the grammaticalization of"Daxiao(大小)",while the increase of subjectivation further promotes the grammaticalization of"Daxiao(大小)".Metaphor and re-inference are the mechanisms of grammaticalization.Chapter five compares the similarities and differences between"Daxiao(大小)","Haodai(好歹)"and"Duoshao(多少)",focusing on the differences between the three.In this chapter,the syntactic,semantic,and pragmatic similarities and differences of"Daxiao(大小)","Haodai(好歹)"and"Duoshao(多少)"are discussed from the perspective of diachrony.Meanwhile,this chapter briefly illustrates the grammaticalization process of"Haodai(好歹)"and"Duoshao(多少)".Then compare the evolution of the three,from the perspective of diachrony,over grammaticalization path,emergence time and evolution speed.Chapter six is the conclusion,which summarizes the main points of this paper.
