The Grammaticalization Of Adverb "Wanfen"

Rencently,there are few studies on the grammaticalization of adverbs from the evolution of numerals , and only a few studies of individual words. According to Zhang Yisheng’s adverb form , the adverbs that evolved from numeral only involved the word Wan , Wan Wan , Qian Wan , Shi Fen , Wan Fen. And only the word Wan , Wan Wan , Qian Wan , Shi Fen have been studied.We investigate the word Wan Fen overall , describe it about its process of grammaticalization comprehensive from the diachronic perspective , and analysis the special use of the various stages from the synchronic perspective. Before the Jin Dynasties,the word Wan Fen used as numeral. When it comes to Han Dynasties,the word Wan Fen began to be used as Wan Fen Zhi Yi till Jin Dynasties. Late in the Song Dynasties, the word Wan Fen began to be used as adverb.in the Ming Dynasties and Qing Dynasties , the word Wan Fen was still on the process of grammaticalization , and it used as adverb much more than before. Untill the end of Qing Dynasties , the grammaticalization of adverb Wan Fen finished.Then , we analysis the function distribution of Wan Fen. It can be used as adverbial modifier or complement at the same time. Then , we detailedly analysis the word Wan Fen from its basic function,distribution,collocation and stylistic features.Then , we analysis the motivations and mechanisms of the grammaticalization of the word Wan Fen. From the perspective of subjectivity , the sense of the word Wan Fen changes from objective to subjective.From the perspective of semantic , the word Wan Fen generalize constantly. From the perspective of syntax , the symbol of grammaticalization is that the word Wan Fen begins to be used as adverbial. At the same time , Wan Fen used as adverb enrichs the Chinese vocabulary. And from the perspective of cognitive , the word Wan Fen fit the metaphorical concept and the least effort principle. The use of Wan Fen can brings more imaginary spaces to us.At last , we compared the grammaticalization of the word Wan Fen with Shi Fen.
