| The deep integration of digital technology with the cinema industry has brought about the issue of screened images that has brought about dramatic changes in both the industry and properties of cinema, which is the context in which the post-cinema situation has arisen. On one hand, the ability of films to be shown on multiple terminals has squeezed the theatrical market, which is the main source of profit for films;on the other hand, the similarity between cinemas remove from theaters and television series and other media in terms of viewing medium has called into question the medium specificity of cinema. These two changes have led to a resurgence of the“death of cinema” argument. However, defending the defining features of cinema,post-cinema proposes a possibility of expansion, that is,to redefine the media properties of cinema from a post-medium perspective, instead of distinguishing works of art by the media material used to present images. Thus, there is no longer a traditional deterministic relationship between the specificity of cinema and its media material in the post-cinematic situation, and the questioning about the specificity of cinematic media is invalidated. On this basis, this paper argues that the post-cinematic dispositive has the properties of the interface, and that cinema in the post-cinema situation presents three representations of high sensory involvement, spectators’ discrete-participation,and the fluidity of the medium. To some extent, the source of these three representations can be found by investigating the implicit history of the medium.Paper found out three characteristics of sensory stimulation, participation, and Multimedia mobility in three cinema screening venues, which correspond to the three representations of post-medium.It can be seen that in the history of the development of cinema, the cinema as its medium of projection, the home theater characterized by videotape playing, and the film events that took place in mixed-used live entertainment venues had provided cultural information to the cultural objects they transmitted, which enabled cinema to exist as a cultural interface. Finally, the three attributes of tactility, memory, and navigation that post-cinema has distinguish it from traditional cinema, and the new media characteristics it presents draw the audience into a more mediated and fluid information space, further consolidating the spectators’ subjectivity.Today, there have been three main ways in which audiences are deeply involved in cinematic events have influenced the cinema industry in terms of production links, textual patterns, and cultural forms. |
