A Report On The E-C Translation Of The Future Of Trade 2022(Excerpts)

The source text of this translation practice is excerpted from the trade report The Future of Trade 2022 issued by Dubai Multi Commodities Centre(DMCC).This report is mainly aimed at readers in the fields of trade,trade policy,international investment and enterprise operation in the global value chain.It expounds on the impact of technology,global economic trends,and geopolitical factors on future trade,focusing on trade growth,supply chain,trade financing,infrastructure,and sustainable development.It also provides a reference for the trade development of governments and enterprises.The author selects the fourth chapter of the report for translation practice,which discusses the current situation and prospects of sustainable trade development from four aspects: green finance and its impact on trade patterns,risks and challenges facing green finance,digital innovation and sustainable trade development,and the impact of semiconductors on sustainable trade development,and provides relevant development suggestions for governments and enterprises.This report consists of five chapters.The first chapter is an introduction,which introduces the translation background,the general contents and the language characteristics of the text,and the significance of the translation task.The second chapter is about the translation process,which describes the translation practice in three phases: preparation,translation,and post-translation.The third chapter explains the CEA framework proposed by Professor Li Changshuan,combined with the relevant theories of other scholars.The fourth chapter,case analysis,is the main body of this report.From the perspective of comprehension,expression,and adaptation,the author summarizes the difficulties encountered in the translation and proposes corresponding translation methods.Among them,“comprehension”involves lexical comprehension and sentence comprehension.Searching the Internet,looking up in the dictionary,and analyzing the context are helpful to realize the accurate understanding of words and phrases,and structural analysis and syntactic analysis are employed to comprehend sentences.In terms of “expression”,in order to make the translation faithful to the original text in content,it is essential to accurately convey the emotional colors of the original text and realize the accurate translation terminologies,idioms and rhetoric.In order to make the translation more idiomatic in form,it is necessary to avoid Europeanized Chinese,ensure cohesion and appropriately use the passive voice.“Adaptation” contains the use of amplification and restructuring which can make the translation concise and readable.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,in which the author reflects on this translation practice and summarizes the findings and limitations.In this translation practice,the author applied the framework of “comprehension,expression and adaptation” and combined it with other specific theories and strategies to summarize and analyze the problems encountered,which has significantly improved the translator’s translation ability.The author hopes that this translation can provide some reference for the sustainable development of foreign trade and environment-friendly enterprises to a certain extent,and also hopes that the translation methods and strategies summarized in this report can provide some suggestions for the translation of similar economic texts.
