| The Sustainable Financial Framework Analysis is the source text of the project report.Published by European think tank Brugel,it is an analyzing text discussing sustainable finance and investment strategies.The report represents the three major difficulties in the process,namely the translation of terminologies,long and complicated sentences and diction features.The report argues that the specialization and polysemy of the financial and environmental economical words and phrases,the diversity of sentence structures and the diction discrepancy between English and Chinese consist of the causes of those difficulties.The report employs different translation strategies to solve these practical problems according to their types by the rules of Skopos Theory.For the terminologies,tool books,industrial websites and expert suggestions are required to ensure the speciality of the version.When it comes to polysemous financial words,the author enlarges her background knowledge and speculates the context to find the precise meaning.Besides,in the translation of long and complicated sentences,different strategies suitable for the sentence types are adopted flexibly.Complex sentence can be translated with prefix restructuring,suffix restructuring or translating the clause into an independent sentence,etc.Passive sentence sometimes can be changed into active voice or non-subject sentence depending on actual conditions.For some simple sentences unsuitable for literal translation,division is a good choice to improve readability and fluency.What's more,as there are discrepancies of diction features between English and Chinese during the translation process,the report makes use of the strategy of Conversion,to achieve faithful and expressive version by distinguishing hypotaxis from parataxis.This report can not only supplement strategy application in financial translation domain,but also offer some suggestions for translating similar texts in the future. |
