The unusual collocation of words is widely used for its novel form and positive rhetorical effect,it is commonplace for native speakers, but it inevitably causes trouble for international students. This paper uses qualitative and quantitative methods, questionnaires and other methods to investigate the number, genre, content and type distribution of abnormal collocation words in the three sets of intensive reading textbooks for Chinese as a foreign language, namely "Boya Chinese","Developing Chinese" and "Experience Chinese",and its daily use frequency and understanding difficulty for international students. The main findings of the survey are as follows:(1)the number is not large, and there is no gradual distribution;(2)most of them are distributed in narrative texts, social phenomena, and life perception texts;Collocation is an ideal practice;(3)The types covered are relatively comprehensive, and it is ideal to explain the extraordinary collocation of words from the perspective of rhetoric and cognition;(4)Most of them are not used frequently in daily use,but some of these use cases have many similar usages, which is exactly the focus of our teaching of extraordinary collocations in teaching Chinese as a foreign language;(5)The overall level of understanding of international students Among them,Chinese proficiency, whether to actively seek the Chinese learning environment, the internal composition of unusual collocation words and their context are also relevant factors that affect the understanding of international students. Finally, the author tries to put forward suggestions for the arrangement and teaching of unusual collocation words in textbooks.
