| Based on the corpus of Chinese newspapers in Singapore,Malaysia and Chinese mainland since modern times, this paper selects a group of vocabulary and syntactic structures that are different from modern Chinese Mandarin as the research object from the perspective of the history of Singapore-Malaysian Chinese and modern Chinese. Its development and evolution from the end of the 19th century to the present 150 years are compared. We have preliminarily constructed a methodology of parallel evolution to compare the six features of"keti","diwei","baoxiao","gongji","jia"and"zaizai"and the syntactic structure"V_单获"in the history of Singapore-Malaysian Mandarin and the history of modern Chinese, and divide the grammatical differences between singapore-Malaysian Mandarin and modern Chinese into the following types:(1)It survives in Singapore-Malaysian Mandarin and"declines"in modern Chinese;(2)Unique development in Singaporean-Malaysian Mandarin;(3)It has its own characteristics in Singaporean-Malaysian Mandarin and modern Chinese;(4)Both Singaporean-Malaysian Mandarin and modern Chinese are"declining".Through parallel comparison,we find that the two historical periods examined in this paper,"1919-1949"and"1978-",can be further refined. The methodology of parallel evolution has the characteristics of equality, diversity and complexity. The two varieties of Chinese form a mutual perspective, which not only proves that some of the lexical and grammatical features of Singapore-Malaysia originated from early modern Chinese, but are still retained, used and developed today. In addition,we can take singapore-Malaysia Chinese as a window to clearly observe many parts of modern Chinese that have disappeared and the approximate time of their disappearance,so as to enrich the study of modern Chinese. The research of this paper is only based on the preliminary collation of some documents. The parallel comparison between Chinese history and modern Chinese history is a very meaningful topic, and also provides ideas for the study of global Chinese history. This article is a trial and a beginning. |
