Research On Zhouwu Printmaking And Historical Theory

In the 20 th century,China experienced the transformation of old and new societies,which also led to significant changes in culture and art.For fine arts creation,especially after the founding of the People’s Republic of China,printmaking has received unprecedented attention,and the success of printmaking’s development and prosperity is obvious to all.Under the background of the vigorous development of national printmaking art,Hui-style printmaking occupies a unique position in the printmaking circle with its unique artistic style.As one of the important figures of the new Hui-style printmaking,Zhou Wu devoted himself to the creation and research of printmaking all his life,and created a large number of printmaking works.As a theoretician,his research on Huizhou printmaking can not be ignored,and made a great contribution to the development of Anhui printmaking career.In his early years,Mr.Zhou Wu received the education of woodcut engraving in the liberated area of Shandong Province,learned and inherited the creative spirit of the new pioneers of woodcut,which laid a preliminary foundation for his later creation concept and theoretical research.After 1949,he served as an art teacher in Fuyang Normal University,Anhui Normal University and other universities,and was committed to inheriting and carrying forward the excellent traditional art of Anhui.Although Mr.Zhou Wu’s life is full of ups and downs,but his knife and pen are full of enthusiasm,he always uphold the "carry forward the traditional national art,create new socialist culture and art" creation purpose,combined with The Times of China’s printmaking situation,created a number of "nationalization,the spirit of The Times" printmaking works.In the early 1960 s,he turned to historical research and carried out in-depth and detailed research on ancient printmaking with perseverance and the spirit of scholarly study.He published a series of influential works on historical printmaking at that time.However,it is inexplicable that so far,Mr.Zhou Wu’s artistic achievements have not received due attention in the academic circle,and the thematic research on Zhou Wu’s art is scattered,and no systematic and complete research article has been formed,so it is difficult to recognize zhou Wu’s artistic and academic achievements as a whole.This paper will take Mr.Zhou Wu and his research as a breakthrough point,from his growth experience,artistic creation,historical research three parts,to conduct a thorough sorting and discussion of his artistic life,and strive to make an objective and fair evaluation of his artistic outlook and scholarly spirit.
