| As a type of application style,the annual report is widely used in listed companies and plays an important role in the cooperation and exchange between companies.Therefore,the translation of the annual report plays a significant role in promoting in-depth exchanges between companies and economics as well as trade cooperation.This report selects Part One of the first section of the APEI Annual Report 2019-20 for translation into Chinese.This section describes the two main institutions of APEI.The translator finds that there are a major number of long sentences in the selected text,so the translator applies Newmark’s theory of communicative translation to guide this translation practice and discusses the problems of Chinese translation of long sentences in business texts.Under the guidance of this theory,the sequential method,reverse method,split and synthesis method are applied to solve the problems encountered in the Chinese translation of long sentences in business texts.The aim of this report is to make the translation conform to the expressions of the translated language,so that the Chinese readers can understand and accept the information of the source text more easily.Through this translation practice report,it can be concluded that Newmark’s communicative translation theory is propitious to instruct the translation of long sentences in business texts into Chinese.Under the guidance of this theory,appropriate translation strategies are selected to improve the readability and accuracy of the translated text and make it easier for Chinese readers to understand.It is hoped that this report will be useful to the translation of similar business texts and provide some references for the application of communicative translation theories. |
