The concept of ecology emphasises the interactions between organisms in a complete ecosystem.Ecology offers new ideas for all fields,and applying ecology to education can open up our educational thinking,identify and solve some inherent educational problems,and discover and apply better educational practices.The new English textbook,which will be implemented in Shanghai in 2020,has a new content and structure that keeps abreast of current events.The ecological classroom is combined with the new textbook to seek a more effective classroom.The study also seeks to identify problems in the implementation of the classroom and to learn from the ecological classroom in order to improve the classroom.This study consists of four chapters.In Chapter 1,the Introduction,the reasons and purposes of this study are analysed from a holistic perspective,and the results of current theoretical research on the ecological classroom are reviewed in the light of national and international literature.Chapter 2 defines the concepts related to the ecological classroom.This includes a definition of the concepts of ecology and classroom.There are also short summaries related to the principles of pedagogy,the characteristics of ecological classrooms,and the basic constructive principles of ecological classrooms.The third chapter combines the new teaching materials of the Shanghainese version with the ecological classroom.Reflections and analysis on the construction of the ecological classroom through analysis of the characteristics of the target Shanghai high school students and the characteristics of the new teaching materials of the Shanghai Education Version.The implementation of the eco-classroom is achieved through the unit design and the effective linkage between the lessons.Three different lesson types,writing,grammar and video,are used for detailed case studies,from which the benefits of the ecoclassroom and the shortcomings in classroom implementation are considered.Chapter 4considers and summarises strategies for building an eco-classroom in high school English,with an emphasis on stimulating students’ interest in learning,building study groups and optimising assessment forms. |
