With the in-depth development of economic and cultural cooperation among countries all over the world,Chinese plays an important role in international exchanges,and the demand for Chinese learning is increasing.The Chinese learner’s dictionary is the supplement and extension of teaching materials and an indispensable tool for international Chinese teaching and learning.The Contemporary Chinese Learner’s Dictionary published in May 2020 is compiled according to the internationally accepted concept of learner’s dictionary.The interpretation of dictionary is the core content of dictionary,which can reflect the concept and level of dictionary compilation.Select the interpretation of body verbs used at any time in daily communicational language as the research object,analyze the interpretation mode,and further refine the interpretation meta mode of body verbs,which can see the essence through typical examples,verify whether the compilation of Contemporary Chinese Learner’s Dictionary is in line with its compilation principles,and put forward corresponding suggestions for revising the dictionary.Then extract the body verb interpretation mode and meta mode of the classic Chinese textbook Boya Chinese,compare them,discuss the gains and losses,and summarize experience,in order to guide the revision of international Chinese textbooks and vocabulary teaching.This study adopts the methods of classification and induction,frequency statistics,combination of qualitative and quantitative methods,machine and manual methods and comparative analysis.Firstly,we analyzed the inclusion of body verbs and their interpretation patterns in Contemporary Chinese Learner’s Dictionary.Secondly,we refined and constructed a meta-model of body verb interpretation.Thirdly,we analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the body verb interpretation patterns in Contemporary Chinese Learner’s Dictionary and Boya Chinese and suggested revisions.Finally,we applied the constructed meta-model to the language design of vocabulary teaching and made suggestions for international Chinese vocabulary teaching.After the study,it is found that the body verb paraphrase patterns can be classified into three categories: morphemic,phrasal,and utterance according to grammatical characteristics.Based on the principles of quasi-resemblance,systematization,economy,ease of interpretation and comprehension,the preferred patterns are extracted,and the meta-models of body verb interpretation are constructed by applying the meta-linguistic theory of interpretation.Through the comparison,we propose to unify and optimize the paraphrasing patterns for the problems of systematic and similar paraphrasing in Contemporary Chinese Learner’s Dictionary;for the problems of similarity and ease of paraphrasing in Boya Chinese,we propose to use disyllabic words as much as possible,optimize the paraphrasing patterns of simple phrases with verbal structures,and add additional structures in the difficult paraphrasing of statements.Finally,the paraphrase meta-model is applied to the teaching language design of international Chinese vocabulary teaching as an example to guide the teaching of verbs. |
