Chinese shadow puppetry is an intangible cultural heritage integrating literature,fine arts,folk customs,music,singing and other arts,has played the role of sacrifice or entertainment in different historical periods and different regions of the country.It has absorbed art and culture such as puppetry and paper cutting and influenced the formation of other arts,occupying an important position in traditional culture.At present,the main research direction of shadow puppetry is protection and inheritance.As a kind of non-material inheritance,shadow puppetry performance is mainly studied in the form of performance in the past,and the research content is less,and it has not been formally included in the field of study.The lighting setting of shadow puppetry performance determines the presentation effect of shadow puppetry performance,and the presentation effect of the performance picture determines the attraction to the audience.It is found in the interview and survey that some artists tend to prefer the high illumination cold white lighting design,believing that the brighter the picture,the clearer the audience will see it.Some artists pursue the retro and use incandescent lamp as the lighting source,but these are the judgment of the actors’ experience,and no one has made a scientific analysis of the visual needs of the audience and the lighting design of shadow puppetry performance.The scientific evaluation of the shadow puppetry performance scene is still in a blank state of research.In order to solve this problem,this study innovatively proposes an evaluation system for the performance picture effect of shadow puppetry.Combining with the demand of shadow puppetry performance picture presentation effect and the investigation of evaluation of visual attributes at home and abroad,this paper puts forward the solution of shadow puppetry performance picture presentation effect evaluation based on lighting index:Through psychophysical experiments,physical optics,statistics and other theoretical knowledge,the mathematical model of lighting indicators and visual attributes is established,and the quantitative evaluation of audience’s visual perception is achieved by combining subjective and objective methods.The evaluation methods and evaluation indicators that can be used for the evaluation of shadow puppet performance picture effects are preliminarily discussed.On the basis of literature investigation and interview research,the factors affecting the performance effect of shadow puppetry are analyzed first,and the conclusion is drawn that lighting is the decisive factor affecting the rendering effect of the picture.After that,the light environment lighting index test experiment is carried out on the shadow puppet show simulation scene to obtain the light environment lighting parameter data.The subjective evaluation results were obtained by psychophysical experiment.In the light environment of simulated shadow puppetry performance,the evaluation values of 32 subjects on four visual attributes,namely color brightness,detail clarity,expressiveness and attractiveness,and visual comfort,were obtained under 16 kinds of lighting environment.The relationship between illumination quality index and visual attribute evaluation value as well as the relationship between visual attribute is analyzed by statistical method.The mathematical prediction model between illumination index parameter and visual attribute is established to measure the combination.Finally,the validity and feasibility of the prediction model are verified in different performance light environments and the actual performance scenes of shadow puppetry in southern Anhui.The experimental results show that there is a strong linear correlation between color brightness,detail clarity,expressiveness and attractiveness,while there is a moderate correlation between expressiveness and attractiveness and visual comfort.Illuminance,Rg,GAIBB8 and other indicators have a significant linear correlation on subjective perception,while the correlation color temperature(CCT)has a significant but nonlinear correlation on the four visual attributes.The combinatorial optimization model of illuminance and GAIBB8 has high goodness of fit with the two visual attributes of color brightness and detail sharpness,and the evaluation of expressiveness and attractiveness is more complex,but the prediction model constructed by illuminance and GAIBB8 can realize a certain degree of interpretation.The evaluation of visual comfort needs to be discussed in stages.After the two parameters of illuminance and CCT are introduced in stage 2800K~4500K,the prediction effect of visual comfort model based on WeberFichner law and reciprocal color temperature is better,and the prediction result of stage 5300K is proportional to illuminance.It shows that the effects of illumination and CCT on different shadow play scenes should be analyzed concretely.The verification experiment results are good,indicating that the prediction formula has a good evaluation effect on visual attributes,the prediction model established by the combination of indicators is better than that of a single indicator,and the prediction model also has a certain applicability to the shadow puppet show scene performed by the T5 fluorescent lamp.This study also concluded that the lighting conditions suitable for shadow puppetry performance are as follows:3500K is the best color temperature,100W is the best comprehensive performance of incandescent light source,200lx is the best at low color temperature,and higher illumination above 5300K is required.The experimental results provide a reference for the design and improvement of shadow puppetry performance equipment,and put forward the lighting conditions and scientific and reasonable evaluation methods,which have a reference and application value for promoting the improvement of the performance picture level and promoting the development of shadow puppetry.
