English writing is one of the basic skills in English learning, which can best reflect learners’ comprehensive ability to use the English language. However,English writing homework as an important part of English writing teaching in junior middle schools, still has many problems.Teachers always tend to adopt the one-size-fits-all traditional homework model. This model ignores the individual differences of students and cannot meet the learning needs of students at different levels. Therefore, the author intends to conduct the research on differentiated homework to further explore the effective forms of writing homework.Based on the research achievements on differentiated homework, this research takes99 students from two parallel classes in one middle school in Zhoushan as the research subjects, and takes the Zone of Proximal Development Theory,Teaching Students in Accordance with their Aptitude Theory and Success Effect Theory as the theoretical basis. In the experimental class, the differentiated writing homework is implemented. While in the control class, the one-size-fits-all traditional writing homework is still used. And the following questions are discussed by using research methods such as tests, interview and questionnaires:(1)What changes do differentiated writing homework bring to students’ attitudes towards writing homework and writing?(2)What changes do differentiated writing homework bring to students’ application of English writing strategies?(3)What effects do differentiated writing homework have on students’ English writing performances?Based on the results of the experiment, some conclusions can be drawn.Through the design and implementation of differentiated writing homework, students at different levels can complete their writing homework matched with their writing proficiency. So their writing performances are improved, and their attitudes towards writing homework and writing are also positively changed.Meanwhile, the application of differentiated writing homework can guide students to actively apply writing strategies, which further promote their improvement of writing performances. |
