Abstract/Summary:
Pottery is the most common artifacts in archaeological sites, which plays an important role in archaeological research.Since the birth of archaeology, the study of pottery has never stopped. However, the study of pottery patterns is a little in the study of pottery,so the academic community lacks a deep understanding of the function and significance of pottery patterns, and lacking a macro study of the interaction between people embodied in pottery patterns in different regions and different archaeological cultures in a large era. This article will collect the information of pottery patterns in the typical sites of the main archaeological cultures in the Xia and Shang Dynasties,so as to have a certain understanding of the composition of various archaeological cultural patterns and the characteristics of various archaeological cultural patterns. The first part of this article will summarize the pottery patterns of the Xia and Shang Dynasties. It not only introduces the characteristics of each pottery pattern, but also finds out the tools for applying patterns from the relics to restore the application techniques of each pottery pattern, and attempts to discuss the craftsman’s application techniques from the arrangement and combination of patterns.Next,it mainly combs the composition and characteristics of various archeological cultural patterns in the Xia and Shang Dynasties, and establishes the main pattern divisions in the Xia and Shang Dynasties. On this basis, through the analysis of the temporal and spatial changes of the main pottery patterns and some special patterns, this paper discusses the interaction between regions in the Xia and Shang Dynasties, and speculates on the cause of the interaction and the underlying causes.Through research,it is found that the pattern area in Xia and Shang Dynasties can be divided into three major areas:plain area, rope area, and grid area. The temporal and spatial changes of the pattern area reflect the changes between different archaeological cultural forces in Xia and Shang Dynasties. From a social perspective, the circulation of patterns between regions reflects the communication and interaction between groups of people. This paper summarizes the interaction between the mainstream patterns and other patterns in the Xia and Shang Dynasties to analyze the social situation and the background of the times reflected behind this.During this period, the archaeological culture was roughly divided into five regions, namely the Central Plains and its east, south, west and north. In general, the northern region imported a large number of patterns to the south during the Xia and Shang dynasties, reflecting the great cultural influence of the northern pattern system. The South and Central Plains have imported from each other, while the West and Central Plains have no obvious communication from the perspective of patterns, while the East has more patterns imported from Central Plains. In addition, the spread of patterns and pottery is not completely consistent, and patterns can be spread without their carriers.
