China is a multi-ethnic country with rich ethnic cultures everywhere.In the development of ethnic minority cultures,Tibetans are a very representative ethnic group.The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,with an average altitude of more than 4,000 meters,is vast and sparsely populated,and the Tibetan people stubbornly live on this vast snowy plateau.The unique climatic conditions and geographical environment have trained their strong,brave,sincere and simple character,and also formed the relationship between heaven and man,which advocates nature,reveres nature and worships nature.Such a unique charm of ethnic groups and regions has constantly attracted the attention of artists,drawing the hearts of artists,so also produced a large number of excellent Tibetan themed works.Since the 20th century,Tibetan art works with different ideological and cultural characteristics have been formed due to the ideological concepts of different times.These art works are not only the models of Tibetan art and humanistic thoughts,but also draw an image history of social development and change in Tibetan areas in the past hundred years.Many people first understand or imagine the ethnic life in the west from these works of art that show Tibetan themes.The social changes in the snowy plateau over the past hundred years,the improvement of Tibetan people’s lives and the changes in their spiritual outlook have been vividly shaped and presented in the works of art of various periods.The research and thinking of Tibetan subject figure painting almost ran through the author’s undergraduate and postgraduate career.After several visits to Tibetan areas in Qinghai and friendly exchanges with local Tibetans,the author has a certain understanding of the overall characteristics of this ethnic group.In the process of creative practice,the author has read a lot of excellent works of famous teachers,learned and summarized the expression methods and characteristics of Tibetan freehand figure painting,and applied them in his own art creation.This paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter analyzes some artists’ works with Tibetan themes,such as Ye Qianyu’s Dance on the Tibetan Plateau,Zhou Changgu’s Two Lambs and Li Boan’s Out of Bayan Kala.The second chapter is the discussion of the form characteristics of Tibetan characters freehand painting,mainly from the modeling concept,color fusion and the choice of subject matter three aspects of Tibetan theme works,in the process of creation of the form content of the picture.The third chapter is based on my own creation as an example analysis,combined with the previous works of learning and sketching the perception of the summary thinking.
