| In the current wave of global informatization,the economic value of the cultural industry continues to rise,and cultural globalization has become an inevitable trend in the development of the cultural industry.Therefore,studying how to cross the cultural gap between media and culture for effective cross-cultural communication has become a pressing issue of the times.As the carrier of cultural transmission,animation has a considerable market and cultural value.Compared with other media forms and cultural products,the animation is a communication medium that is more likely to cross the boundaries between cultures and achieve the "soft landing" of cross-cultural communication in a subtle way.At present,animation creators in various countries are trying to find ways to internationalize their animation.Irish animated films are the "rising stars" of the animation world.Among them,the animation films produced by Cartoon Salon Animation Studio are each nominated for an Oscar.It has seized a place in the animation industry where American and Japanese animation occupies the majority with its high artistic and commercial value and has blown the "Irish wind" worldwide with its distinctive Irish national cultural imprint.In contrast,although the Chinese animation film started early,the development road was bumpy.Since 2015,although Chinese animation has been improving,there are good works every year,but in the competitive international cultural environment,the "Chinese characteristics" of Chinese animation are obviously still insufficient.Chinese animation cannot match the recognition and dissemination power of American,Japanese,and European animation.With this as the starting point,we will focus on the "Irish Folk Story Trilogy" by the famous Irish animation director Tom Moore-The Secret of Kells,Song of the Sea,and Wolfwalkers,three animated films,analyze their successful cross-cultural communication strategies,and discuss their inspiration for Chinese animation,to find "good remedies" for the "standing up" and "go out" of Chinese animation.This paper takes literature research as the theoretical guidance,image text analysis methods,and interdisciplinary content analysis methods as empirical examples and uses comparative induction to conclude.The first chapter starts with the development of the Irish animation industry,the Cartoon Salon Studios overview,and director Tom Moore’s creative experience.It briefly describes the cultural context of Irish animation and the formation of the director’s unique and stable style.The second,third,and fourth chapters use the knowledge of cross-cultural communication,filmology,narratology,aesthetics,design,and other related disciplines to deeply analyze the audio-visual strategy,cultural strategy,and business strategy of the cross-cultural communication of the "Irish Folk Story Trilogy," and explore the subjective and objective factors of its dual success in art and business.Then the fifth chapter summarizes Chinese animation’s shortcomings in cross-cultural communication and its cross-cultural communication path to help the creative development,industrial transformation,and international communication of Chinese animation films. |
