Cultural exchanges between countries around the world are now becoming more frequent as the process of globalization is accelerating. The English translation of literary works is of great significance in promoting cross-cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries. In this report, the author takes the ninth short story in The Phoenix Perching on Divine Trees written by the writer Wang Fangchen as the translation material.Guided by the Comprehension,Expression,Adaptation(CEA)framework, this report combines relevant cases and utilizes different translation techniques to discuss the problems encountered in the translation process and solutions.Specifically,in terms of comprehension, the author uses three means of comprehension:using context, checking the Internet and consulting experts to achieve the accurate understanding of the original text.In terms of expression,on the basis of comprehension, the author pays attention to using words accurately and employs translation techniques such as amplification and shift of perspective to achieve faithfulness to the original text and integrity of the content. In terms of adaptation, the author uses annotation, explicitation and paraphrasing to adapt the content with cultural characteristics to achieve cultural communication. It can be concluded from this translation practice that the CEA framework can effectively guide literary translation and methods described above can effectively solve the problems of comprehension, expression and adaptation encountered during the translation process, making the translation more fluent and natural and achieving the purpose of cultural communication or dissemination.
