As one of the important representatives of Confucianism in Korea,Seo Kyung-duk’s philosophical thought has played a significant role in the succession and development of Korean Confucianism.Under the influence of traditional Chinese Confucianism and Neo-Confucianism,he accepted the idea of Tai-xu as Pneuma, and through the combination of Tai-xu ontology and cosmogenesis,he connected the metaphysical Tai-xu ontology to the human nature, thus linking mind, nature, emotion, and principle, forming his unique mind-nature theory of thought, and transforming from the metaphysical and distant Tai-xu to the real human being. This had a very important influence on the later scholars of Korean Confucianism,on the subsequent development of Korean Confucianism, and on the prosperity of East Asian philosophy. Many scholars have studied Seo Kyung-duk’s pneuma theory thought, and there are some research papers such as human nature theory and ethical thought.but there is still a gap in the study of his mindfulness thought. This paper takes Xu Jingde’s pneuma theory thought as the premise, and on the basis of his philosophical thought on pneuma theory,it focuses on"mindfulness",sorting out and connecting the categories of Tai-xu,pneuma,principle,mind,nature,and emotion, and to explore the value of his mindfulness theory.First,we systematize the meaning of the core concept of Xu Jingde’s philosophy "mindfulness" from macro and micro contexts, examine the origin of Xu Jingde’s mindfulness thought, and clarify the inner rationale of his mindfulness thought.Next,we explore the ontological roots of Xu Jingde’s thought on mindfulness from the aspect of form. Then,he explores the specific contents of Xu Jingde’s theory of mind and nature, specifically interpreting the issues of principle and Tai-xu,principle and pneuma, mind and principle, mind and nature, nature and principle, nature and emotion, and the goodness and evilness of emotion, arguing that Tai-xu,as the primordial realm that constitutes all things, unifies principle and pneuma, principle,as the innate principle, corresponds to the essence of Tai-xu,principle and pneuma are the relationship between body and use,the nature body is rooted in the essence of Tai-xu,and mind,as the subject of moral cultivation,is the material organ of human beings and is As the subject of moral cultivation, the heart is the material organ of human beings and is the objective material entity on which the moral essence and the nature depend,so the heart can unify the nature. Then, the theoretical characteristics of East Asian Confucianism are analyzed, reflecting the humanistic metaphysics and practical rationality of Xu Jingde’s philosophy. Finally,an evaluation of Seo Kyung-duk’s teleological thought is presented, examining in detail the value of Seo Kyung-duk’s teleological thought, whose powerful critique of Buddhist and Taoist thought greatly influenced the promotion and establishment of Korean Confucianism and the ontology of Korean realism. The values embedded in Seo Kyung-duk’s philosophy have been discovered, inherited, and developed by thinkers and philosophers of different schools of thought, and this is what is most valuable about a great thinker and philosopher. It is not only of great significance to clarify the theoretical essence of Xu Jingde’s philosophy of the spirit of the philosophy of life in the unity of heaven and man,but especially of great reference value to clarify the misinterpretation and one-sidedness of his study of teleology.
