The development of seal books has obvious stages,first evolving from hieroglyphs in ancient times to the Shang and Zhou orthographic large seals,and then degenerating into small seals after systematic correction and sorting.It can be considered that seal books flourished in the Shang,Zhou and Qin dynasties,and by the Ming Dynasty,its status was no longer as brilliant as before,and a new fashion of seal books with a certain scale was not formed in this dynasty,but this does not mean that seal books in the Ming Dynasty did not have literary and artistic value.The seal book is a huge and complex work system,not only standardized large and small seals,but also beautified large seals,ancient texts,Han Dynasty variant seal books of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.According to the information available so far,most of the seal books in the Ming Dynasty are small seals and ancient texts,with a considerable number and diverse styles.Based on the entire Ming Dynasty,this paper comprehensively analyzes the different styles and formation factors of Ming Dynasty seal books from the perspectives of type and presentation mode,and takes the aesthetic thought and political system of the era as clues.and explore its value and impact.This article is divided into four parts:The first part revolves around the factors that influenced the development of seal books in the Ming Dynasty.Through the macroscopic grasp of the society of the Ming Dynasty,it is believed that the change from conservative to open in ideology,the system of selecting officials by seal books in politics,and the demand for seal books in all fields of society are all reasons for the diversity of seal books in the Ming Dynasty.The second part examines the overall style of seal books in the Ming Dynasty.It is roughly divided into three categories: round and smooth type,square and straight type,and spontaneous natural type.Among them,the round and smooth seal book is a continuation of the Tang and Song Yuan jade seal style,the square straight seal book has the color of the Qin and Han period jade seal,and the spontaneous natural type is more complex,and the variants of jade seal such as hanging needles and inverted xue,as well as ancient texts from the Warring States period,are included.According to the picture materials,you can find the inheritance relationship and innovation with the previous generation.The third part starts from the different presentation methods of seal books and analyzes the differences in the style of seal books in the Ming Dynasty.Through the hook and sinking combing of a large number of materials in ink,stone carvings and ancient book engravings,we can not only see the development of seal books in the Ming Dynasty,but also understand the influence of the variables of different carriers on the style of seal books.Ink seal books are directly created by the writer,so the brushwork,style,etc.are more prominent;Stone carvings and engraved seal books are all secondary creations,so the brushwork is more obvious,but more decorative.However,due to the difference in materials and uses,they have their own characteristics.The fourth part focuses on the value and influence of seal writing art in the Ming Dynasty.The Ming Dynasty is a recognized period of decline in the history of the development of seal books,and although there are many shortcomings,the value of its existence cannot be ignored or denied.The intervention of the good seal writers also played a role in promoting the rise of literati seal carving in the middle of the Ming Dynasty.The innovation in form and the diversification of styles of seal books in the Ming Dynasty laid an important foundation for the revival of seal books in the Qing Dynasty.
