The Tea and Tourism Cultural Festival in Guzhang,China is held annually in late March or early April when a series of events combining tea culture and tourism culture will take place.This festival aims to promote the tea brands of Guzhang,improve tea-manufacturing techniques,boost communication over tea culture and tourism culture,fuel the growth of the local economy and eventually introduce the tea and tourism of Guzhang to the nation,and even the world.This report is based on simulated consecutive interpreting involving various speeches of the 4th Tea and Tourism Cultural Festival in Guzhang,China,including the address of the hosts,the prepared speeches from the government officials,impromptu speeches from the guests,promotional videos,and live interviews.This report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of the task,including the background information,characteristics,and the significance of the task.The second chapter is about the interpreting procedure.The third chapter is the case analysis.The fourth chapter is task reflection and conclusion.Under the guidance of the Effort Model of consecutive interpreting and the“Laws”in the selection of tactics by Daniel Gile,the author analyzes the cases with the“Coping tactics”offered by Gile,including delaying the response or reconstructing the segment with the help of the context to deal with the difficulty in listening,designing relevant symbols,abbreviations and note-taking structures to solve note-taking problems and reduce memory efforts,using a superordinate or a general segment,explaining or paraphrasing the source language or transcoding it when facing difficulties in production.In the report,the author makes efforts to restore the dynamic process of consecutive interpreting,hoping it will be a reference for future study and that the collection of the symbols and terms related to the topic will be reused in future practice. |
