This report is a summary of the simulated Chinese-English consecutive interpreting for the Press Conference of Hunan Province Coordinating COVID-19 Epidemic Control with Economic and Social Development under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory of Translation.In an effort to share Hunan Province’s experience in epidemic prevention and control as well as the efforts and preparations for the resumption of work,the press conference was held by the Information Office of People’s Government of Hunan Province.The report helps everyone better understand the prevention and control situation in Hunan and responds to social concern.The report consists of four parts: task description,interpreting process,case analysis,and summary and reflections.In the first part,there is a general introduction of the Press Conference.The source language is mainly about measures taken by People’s Government of Hunan Province,and is mostly expressed in formal sentences,and with clear logic.The second part is concerned with the pre-interpreting preparations,the interpreting process,and the post-interpreting reflection.From the theoretical perspective,the third part utilizes the Interpretive Theory in order to analyze the important and difficult points,and details of typical cases in the process of comprehension,deverbalization and re-expression.The fourth part concentrates on the problems and reflections concerning the interpreting practice.Through the reflection on the whole simulated interpreting process,the author is convinced that the simulated interpreting practice can help MTI students improve their interpreting skills under the condition of the absence of on-site interpreting opportunities.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory and from the perspective of comprehension,deverbalization and re-expression,the author made an empirical analysis of the successful interpreting from the source language to the target language and the effect of faithful expression to the original. |
